ESL Teachers Needed at Laboratory Charter School

Laboratory Charter School in Philadelphia is looking for at least 3-4 ESL teachers to begin in the fall with one position eventually leading to an ESL Coordinator role.


Laboratory Charter School is designing a comprehensive ESL program. This is a brand new program that will be implemented the first day of the 2017-2018 school year. We are in need of dedicated teachers to help maintain the functionality of the program and help the program grow. The Laboratory Charter School family is committed to proving the best possible program for their ELLs and the ESL population is  rapidly growing.


The teacher's responsibilities include:


 ·       writing lesson plans and teaching classes


 ·       fostering relationships with teachers: ongoing teacher support,

 planning and leading professional developments


 ·       fostering relationships with parents: planning and hosting parent

 nights


 ·       facilitating ACCESS tests yearly, screening potential ELLs when

 they enroll as new students


 ·       maintaining student files/portfolios


 ·       participating in IEP meetings for dually identified ELLs


Teachers will need to have their TESOL/ESL certification or a degree in

TESOL. Experience with K-12 Education is preferred.  Training will be provided.

We are looking for strong teachers who are not afraid to take the lead but 

that are also eager to grow as educators.


The school will partner with an ESL consultant during the school year.

The goal is to appoint an ESL Coordinator from the hired teachers.
