Using Drama-Based Activities to Create Engagement in Speaking Classes

Dr. Alexis Finger is Associate Teaching Professor Emeritus at Drexel University and author of four textbooks, including the Magic of Drama. Her presentation, entitled Using Drama-Based Activities to Create Engagement in Speaking Classes, will share the benefits of using drama, plays and movies, in particular, in our classes. It will show how these can be used as springboards for a plethora of engaging activities that enhance our students’ language skills, expand their knowledge of American culture, and increase their self confidence as speakers of English.

Today's Students, Tomorrow's Leaders: A Sneak-Peek Into Their Future

After starting in TESOL more than 25 years ago, and having taught elementary and high school, in university English language programs and graduate TESOL courses, and providing business leadership communication training and executive coaching in corporate America, patterns become very clear! In this presentation, Dr. Laura Sicola will share insights into common communication challenges that hold back native AND non-native English speaking professionals from achieving their greatest potential, as well as what skills, behaviors and mindsets propel them to success. You'll walk away with new perspective, inspiration and ideas on how to be the very best guide on your students' journey.
